Bourbon Women “Sip-osium,” French Lick, Indiana

Bourbon Women will hold its first  “sip-osium,” a weekend of bourbon enjoyment and education, at the French Lick Resort in French Lick, Indiana, Friday August  22 through Saturday August 23, 2014 The two-day conference includes daily cocktail receptions and a bourbon dinner Saturday evening. 2014 Oxnard Salsa Festival

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Fund Raiser, April 25

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Connecticut Chapter will host Hops & Grapes, Toasts & Tastes at Chelsea Piers, Stamford, (CT) on Friday, April 25th from 7:30 to 10:30pm. Local restaurants, and distributors will showcase a selection of foods, wines and beers. LLS hopes to raise over $50,000 during this fun-filled evening. Mario Batali May Open Restaurant in New Haven

New Havenites bemoaned the sudden closing of Ibiza earlier this month. And so, I'm glad to share with you the possibility of another opening. Mario Batali  — who will be hosting the upcoming Beard Awards in May — just might be opening a restaurant in New Haven. Mary E. MediaBistro reported that New Haven Advocate, 1975-2013 (New Haven Independent), "a weekly newspaper once known for a mix of gutsy investigative journalism, edgy political commentary, magazine-style feature writing, and savvy arts coverage, died Wednesday following a long illness. It was 38 years old. The cause of death was a changed media landscape combined with corporate cluelessness and cupidity."

Texas Monthly Annual BBQ Festival

Texas Monthly will hold its fourth annual BBQ Festival on November 3, 2013 on the City Terrace at the Long Center for the Performing Art at 701 W. Riverside Drive (at the corner of S. 1st Street) Austin, Texas. The event will showcase restaurants from the magazine's ranking of Top 50 Barbecue Joints in Texas. Guest will experience live music and barbecue sampling beside the shores of Lady Bird Lake.
