Gourmè Mist

I love olive oils, and I love inventive packaging. I had a friend that once (successfully) patented a special kind of beer can. His can would pour faster because of a special valve that opened when opening the lid (allowing a drinker to chug faster). Inventive packaging for him meant a better user experience, not just a fancy bow. With this (albeit odd) story in mind, I was very excited when I came across the new olive oil bottles from Gourmè Mist.

Gourmè Mist is inventive packaging to the next level; an environmentally friendly, continuous mist spray bottle. This is something new, something different. Hey, global warming, right? We don’t want to use aerosols anymore, or something… heck, I just can’t fine a good quality oil in an aerosol anyway. Problem is, I do need to mist my oil from time to time. Gourmè Mist now offers a great solution, and most importantly, their unique spray bottles are filled with high quality oils and vinegars, not lard. Though it’s not ‘the wheel’, it is sort of the first product of its kind. The pump bottle sprays as well as any ordinary aerosol can would, but is a healthier alternative for all involved. Gourmè Mist is able to achieve the same mist without the use of any alcohols, chemical propellants or additives; all of which are common in aerosol cans.

Gourmè Mist offers their unique misting bottles with olive oil, balsamic vinegar or canola oil. I already find myself using the olive oil all the time, I love being able to get an actual coating of oil on my sautee pan, rather than doing the old ‘drizzle and swirl’. The olive oils are available as ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ while the vinegar varieties include regular balsamic, as well as raspberry and pomegranate fusions. Canola oil is a perfectly fine also-ran. I must say that the pump cap mechanism is quite simple to use; 3 to 4 pumps, with minimal effort expended, allows for a full spray from the bottle.

What I find most entertaining and interesting (hey, we’re still talking ‘inventive packaging’) are the travel size Gourmè Mist bottles! Like mace, but flavorful. Why carry dangerous toxins on your keychain when you can carry gourmet olive oil? I’m kidding, they’re not that small. Though the 3.5oz oil might won’t make it through security at the airport, it is the perfect size for a BBQ, tailgate or desk-drawer.
