In an effort to examine the role of women in leadership positions in the culinary industry, the James Beard Foundation and Vermilion are launching the "Women in Culinary Leadership Program."  The initiative will be announced September 18, 2012 at the "Women in Culinary Leadership Evening" at Vermilion in New York City in an event featuring a thought-provoking panel discussion plus a five-course Indian-Latin fusion dinner. Plate by Plate: Food & Wine Tasting Benefit

Plate by Plate, an annual food and wine tasting benefit on September 22, 2012, features the Bay Area's top restaurants and wineries including Per Diem, Credo, Gitane and Cafe Claude, Piperade, Chaya Brasserie, Georges, Gundlach Bundschu, St. Supery, Grgich Hills and more. Net proceeds from the benefit will go towards Project by Project (PbP), a national nonprofit organization comprised of young professionals and social entrepreneurs based in SF, LA & NY. Juice It Up!

The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California campus welcomes Juice It Up! – a juice and smoothie bar chain in Southern California that recently opened at 1824-1826 E. Marengo Street in Los Angeles. Juice It Up!  offers seven new juice blends including, the Refresher, Energizer, Rejuvenator, Awakener, Detoxifier, Immunizer and the Healthy Heart. The juices are made with kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, carrots, lemon, ginger and other micronutrient-rich fruits and vegetables.

The 9th Annual A Second Helping of Life, September 24

Top female chefs will again serve signature dishes to fight cancer. In fact, more than two dozen of NYC's top female chefs will serve savory and sweet dishes at the Ninth Annual "A Second Helping of Life" on Monday, September 24, 7 p.m., at Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers. Chef Amanda Freitag (of Food Network's "Chopped" and Cooking Channel's series "Unique Eats") will serve as Executive Chef at this fundraiser to support SHARE, a non-profit organization that offers free peer support to women with breast or ovarian cancer, their families and friends.  All of SHARE's services are free of charge and include helplines, educational programs, support groups, and public-health initiatives. NYC’s Biggest Julia Child 100th Birthday Celebration, Sept 12

Kahala Resort’s Tribute to Julia Child

Hawai`i Food & Wine Festival

The Second Annual Hawai`i Food & Wine Festival (HFWF) will be held  September 6-9 2012.  The line-up of programs included innovative seminars and educational lunches with celebrity chefs Ming Tsai, Masaharu Morimoto, Roy Yamaguchi, Todd English and Charles Phan; master wine tasting with Krug Champagne; and an educational excursion to an 800-year-old restored fishpond and lo`i (taro field).
