Widmer Brothers Brewing started as a dream for two brothers who just loved beer.  In 1984, Kurt and Rob Widmer helped lead the Pacific Northwest craft beer movement. In 1986, Widmer Brothers Brewing introduced the first American-style Hefeweizen; today, this unfiltered cloudy beer is the company’s signature brew and one of the best selling wheat beers in the country!

Widmer Beer

The newest beer, Drifter, is Widmer’s first true foray into the pale ale category. This is a truly amazing first attempt, with a flavor that’s unlike any I’ve tried before. The ale is very different from its pale cousins with strong citrus notes of grapefruit and tangerine well balanced against a malty, dry sweetness. Drifter is brewed with ‘Summit hops’, a new variety known for its intense and abundant citrus aroma and flavors… and they really show their worth in this libation. Drifter is truly a smooth and inviting pale ale; subtle malt sweetness and these tangy new hops… Certainly worth a six pack.

Drifter was a Silver Medal winner in the Pale Ale category at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival. Drifter is available on tap in 20 select states* beginning January 5th, with six-packs on shelves in early February. The beer will launch nationwide in mid-April and will be offered year-round. A Drifter six-pack retails for approximately $8.99.
