The giant gorilla Nyani is like a magnet to me. I’ve been walking the Highline to Hudson Yards to bring friends to see the adorable reclining bronze ape since I first set eyes on him.  Seriously, there’s something enticing about him. We stopped there to take photos before walking back south on the Highline to Restoration Hardware where we were eating on the roof.

I’ve been pre-COVID. It’s still as exquisite as it was. You feel quite comfy in this well-appointed rooftop space. What I’d expect from Restoration Hardware. Their attentive yet not over-bearing service matches the space.

We took our time ordering, yakking and eating while we sipped the Catena Malbec, Vista Flores, Mendoza, Argentina ($60). Our first salad was made of gem lettuce, radishes and avocado chunk dressed lightly (we asked) with a buttermilk herb dressing ($18). We both liked!

Our next salad was a lightly dressed shaved green apple and veggies with greens, avocado chunks and candied pecans ($19).

Our entree of broiled salmon ($32) arrived (slightly overcooked) on a plate with only a slice of lemon. Sparse presentation. With that, we had French fries ($10) and charred broccolini ($12). The latter’s portion was small and neither garlicky nor redolent with Calabrian chili as the menu had described.

I’d still recommend RH Rooftop.
