The former Humphrey’s location has gone through several incarnations since the original one closed many years ago. With the opening of Madden’s Gastropub, it may be a long-term winner.

In a city that offers every type of cuisine possible, Madden’s offers good American fare – some in the classic sense, some with a creative twist.  The menu includes a variety of soups, salads, appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. I opted for the Pastrami Bomb, described as a “generous portion of pastrami, Swiss, sautéed peppers, onions, mushroom with spicy mustard” ($10). The sandwich was served with perfectly seasoned fries and tasty coleslaw. They weren’t kidding on the “generous portion of pastrami”!  The sandwich was tender, flavorful and since it was too much to eat at one sitting – the second half of the sandwich tasted just as good the next day – when I had it for breakfast!

My dining companion ordered the grilled chicken sandwich consisting of marinated boneless chicken breast, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, pesto, and fresh mozzarella on a hard roll ($9).  Moist and flavorful, she proclaimed she would order it again.

Madden’s offers a full bar featuring a large variety of bottled and draft beers. A special events room, with a private bar and separate entrance, can accommodate approximately 65 for a seated dinner, and 100 in a reception format.

Madden’s Gastropub will have their Grand Opening on Friday July 26, featuring musical guests The Mediums.  Free parking on site.
