It’s a new age we live… We are surrounded by computers. Why should we think food would remain above the fray? Forget .com and .org… We’ve got a new kid on the block!

.FOOD Web Address: A New Top Level Domain Designed for Food Lovers Worldwide!

Wolfgang Puck (renowned chef, author and entrepreneur) has joined forces with some Internet pioneers to create the .FOOD domain. Website names and email addresses ending in .FOOD will provide restaurants, food retailers, caterers, food-lovers and chefs worldwide a unique opportunity to brand their web addresses.

This is a great way for the finest food enterprises to stand out from the crowd on the Internet,” said Puck, who owns more than 100 fine dining and casual restaurants in the United States as well as a national catering company and several consumer product lines. “Owning a .FOOD address is like opening a business on the best street in any city in the world.

Puck additionally announced that a portion of the proceeds from .FOOD domain sales will be donated to funding philanthropic organizations like Meals on Wheels and scholarships at the Culinary Institute of America, among others.

There are currently 20 web addresses in use such as .com .org .net .edu, as well as over 200 addresses based on country names such as .us .fr .uk. Web addresses are officially referred to as top-level domains. Early next year ICANN will begin approving applications for top-level domains named after cities, companies, brands and entrepreneurial ventures. Other unique examples include new web addresses like .ECO, which is backed by former Vice President Al Gore and .NYC, which is backed by former New York City Mayor Ed Koch.

It’s a new era, let’s all eat .food!
