Honey is making a splash in the culinary world this year thanks in large part to its versatility and ability to add unique flavor to a multitude of dishes. Now, Bite of the Best readers can join the trend and showcase their favorite original or borrowed recipes.
The National Honey Board is looking for ways everyday cooks incorporate honey into dishes and treats. And in return, will award three (3) lucky winners a Le Creuset cookware prize to make their favorite honey dishes in for years to come! The Cooking with My Honey Bear contest is open to entrants Aug. 2 through Sept. 15. Entrants must submit an original recipe using 100% pure honey for the chance to win one of three prizes:
* First prize: a nine-piece Le Creuset cookware set valued at $1,600
* Second prize: a five-piece Le Creuset cookware set valued at $500
* Third prize: a Le Creuset Dijon honey pot and a honey gift basket valued at $200
BiteoftheBest.com readers can enter by visiting honey.com and filling out the entry form. Additionally, entrants have the option to include photographs of their finished dishes or photographs of themselves with a bottle of honey.

When baking, I always add 1/2 c. honey to my mixes, such as cakes, snacking cakes. Also try adding 1/2 c. honey to pinto beans about 30 min. before they are done. Wow does my family and friends love my pinto beans.

add honey to a simple syrup when poaching fruit—especially good with fresh fruit—–also, place some honey beside an exotic cheese–you are in for a real treat

I use honey as a great substitute for sugar! It is healthier and I think it gives a better taste to cookies, cakes, and cereals. I love the orange flavored honey. Plus, I could REALLY use this cookware; mine are worn out!
