Paris Chocolate Walk

For those who love eating chocolate… especially as they stroll….

Directions:
Start this walk in front of Eglise Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Cross over to the South side of boulevard Saint-Germain and go down rue Bonaparte to number 72, where you’ll find Pierre Hermé‘s boutique showcase of spectacular pastries. Known as “The Picasso of Pastry,”Pierre’s shop welcomed us from the street with a rainbow display of macaroons and the sweet smell cocoa and butter.

Leave Pierre’s, and turn right along Rue Bonaparte, then turn left onto rue Saint-Sulpice. Go straight on rue Saint-Sulpice until you reach Rue de Seine. Turn left on Rue de Seine. Gérard Mulot is at 76 Rue de Seine (at the corner of Rue Lobineau). Mulot’s shop is a combined boulangerie, pâtisserie and chocolate shop. Mulot is known as a master, ranking among Paris’s best in all three crafts.

Simply cross the street and you’ll find Belgian chocolatier Pierre Marcolini, at 89, Rue de Seine. Marcolini’s ‘haute couture’ boutique takes your taste buds around the world through the exotic scents and flavors infused in more than 60 varieties of bonbons.

Cross back over to the North side of Boulevard Saint-Germain. Turn right and head East. Continue along Boulevard Saint-Germain until you reach number 108. Patrick Roger, known for his eccentric window displays, is a true chocolate artist. He was named Best French Chocolatier in 2000 and continues to wow his visitors with life-sized sculptures that will make you salivate. If you have the heart to sink your teeth into these beautiful works of art, you will find the aesthetic value and creativity is only surpassed by the unique flavors of Patrick’s treats. The perfect end to a chocolate journey (for today). Now to find a perfect spot in Luxembourg Gardens or perhaps along the Seine to enjoy the sweet delicacies you’ve collected along the way.
