Remembering how much I liked their pizza, I stopped by Olio e Piú in the West Village with some friends.

We began with their beet salad with goat cheese so mild it tasted more like panna cotta. What I’d highly recommend is the Polipetti alla griglia, the tender char-grilled baby octopus ($16). We washed that down with some Nero D’Avola Sallier De La Tour 2011 (Palermo), my red grape of choice at Italian restaurants since recently returning from Sicily ($44).

This time the pizza wasn’t up to my previous visits as the red sauce on the Boscaiola ($18) with mozzarella, mushrooms, Italian sausage and gorgonzola was too watery, making the chewy crust soggy once we removed the first piece from the pie. Flavor was good, though.
