We were almost giddy after seeing the final matinee performance of the fabulous infectious “The Legend of Georgia McBride” at the Lucille Lortel theatre on Christopher Street. The entire audience jumped to their feet to applaud and wouldn’t stop applauding after the house lights came on until the cast returned to the stage. I’m hoping a NYC producer might have been in the audience that afternoon and decides to take it to Broadway. It was that good.

After theatre we were walking around the west village and came upon the inviting Village Prime, an intimate restaurant in the West Village. We stopped in for a snack. I’d recommend the tender fried calamari with a crispy light crust accompanied by a finger-licking cheesy marinara sauce ($14) and their housemade Mediterranean mezze ($15) with three equally as tasty treats — Lebanese yogurt, hummus and baba ghanoush along with lots of warm pita.

I returned with their publicist a couple weeks later eager to sample more of the new chef Vincent Ricciardelli’s offerings. I’d recommend — if offered — the thick and hearty Brussels sprouts soup with pumpkin seed oil, pumpkin seeds and crispy croutons ($12) and the light baby Long Island beets sitting of a dab of mascarpone along with citrus, microgreens and pine nuts ($14) as appetizers.

We sampled so many dishes that the entree photos here are not indicative of their serving sizes as the chef made smaller portions for us. Those included the lobster filled and topped ravioli in an herbed shellfish broth ($24) and the braised tender Colorado lamb shank over creamy polenta and root vegetables ($26) both of which I’d recommend.

I’ll return again earlier in the evening as I had done the first time, as it’s way too noisy for me later on in the evening. I’ll leave that for millenials.
