Ham and Swiss PaniniRunning through airports about to board a plane, I — like most travelers —  grab something to take on-board to eat. I often just grab a cold sandwich at Starbucks.

But now Starbucks offers a choice of hot sandwiches along with some fairly healthy snacks with 220 calories or less per serving.

I took note of their healthy snacks as many of them had already been featured here on BiteoftheBest.com — including the Food Should Taste Good chips and Kind Bars. (We now have both the Food Should Taste Good chips and Kind Bars in our shop. Just click on each of the items to take you directly to that item.)

Back to those paninis. Each ($5.45 – $5.55) contains less than 400 calories with 9 to 18 grams fat, 2 to 3 grams fiber and 630 to a hefty 960 milligrams sodium.

The Black Forest ham and Swiss has the 9 grams fat as the bread is spread with mustard;  the roasted tomatoes and mozzarella also contains spinach has the 18 grams fat, as it’s topped with basil pesto. Each panini is quickly heated upon order, in a special oven that warms the sandwich and keeps the bread crisp (as you’d want it), making it a hot-food option to grab and go.  Just limit your salty foods for the rest of the trip!
