Happiness is having the ability to exchange the carbonator for my Soda Club / Soda Stream machine locally!
As of today, all Bed Bath and Beyond within the continental US are both selling the soda makers (Genesis $99.99 – includes bonus flavor pack), carbonating bottles ($14.99 for a twinpack) and 60L exchange carbonators ($14.99 when you return an empty to the customer service desk). Hallelujah!

Does bed bath and beyond take empty soda gas canisters back?
Hi Deborah –
Great news! BBB is doing the carbonator exchange. Bring in your empty to the customer service desk, and they will exchange it for a full one (about $15.)
Happy fizzing!
Kristin from SodaStream
I took the canisters back to Bed Bath and Beyond and they don’t have the
size that fits the soda club machine I have, which is just like yours. They have
a different model. No problem, I just called and they will come delivered as
usual.
PS: Bed Bath and Beyond implied their canisters wouldn’t fit my machine and they wouldn’t take my canisters back.
Hi Deborah –
Bed Bath & Beyond carries the 60L size carbonators only (because it fits the Genesis model soda maker that they carry.)
The good news is that the 60L size will work in any SodaStream soda maker! You may turn in your larger empty one, and get a smaller full one. And vice versa – if you have a 60L empty and want to get a 130L full one (online or at another retailer) you can certainly do that. As long as you have an empty – any empty – you may exchange it for a full one for the price of the gas contents only.
I will make sure our sales training team covers this off with the BBB store personnel as they are making store visits this fall. (If you let me know specifically which location you visited – we’d be happy to make a call…)
The larger carbonators are available at a few independent retailers around the country. Check http://www.sodastreamusa.com/where_to_buy.aspx to find a local retailer. Read the notes for each location – if they carry the large carbonator exchanges, the notes will say so.
Happy fizzing!

Carbonators
BEFORE ORDERING CARBONATORS!
We offer two sizes of carbonators and they are not both compatible with all of our machines. Our standard carbonators (60L/14.5oz) fit all our machines. However, our large carbonators (130L/33oz) fit only our FountainJet, Edition 1 and Dynamo machines.

The real reason majority of local stores carry the 130L carbonators is because they would not want customers to take twice as long as the 60l to come back and visit their stores (revenue).
When you factor in water, driving, cost to own machine, concentrate, and the refill of C02 which is markedup 1500%
the actual cost comes to $1.73 per Liter!
REVIEW IS ON AMAZON breaks it down. Dodged a bullet!
You are nuts.
I call what you just did – creative mathematics!!
I’m in love with my Soda Club machine!
haha thanks Darby, you continue to pay mark up..I’ll just go with the alternative that the rest of the world is doing, the new thing is to buy paintball cans & get modifier valves to fit your sodastream.
And since you think creative maths is what I do call up any sporting good store eg. Dick’s which refills CO2 for $3/ 12 oz
Now if Sodastream sells a 33oz for $30 but I can refill that for less than $9 I would say that is more than a 300% markup for the gas alone.
And for the worry worts there is no such thing as food grade CO2.
Check out co2doctor dot com & leave smart people like Darby to fatten up company pockets lol
Darby, as an actual mathematician, I can tell you that “The truth” is right. You can generally go to any store and buy a 2-liter bottle of any soda for less than what it costs to make one with the SodaStream. If your goal is to save money, the SodaStream is NOT for you. However, if your goal is to save space and waste (or recycling, as the case may be), then SodaStream may very well be what works for you. That’s the determination I made as to the cost of this machine, and I chose to have one anyway.
