I met a friend for lunch at Serafina Always on 61st between Fifth and Madison. Having seen each other only on Zoom, we just wanted to have time to yak.

This location of Serafina has a tent that is open on one side so we felt safe. She — not a  lunch eater — only had the baby arugula topped with huge slivers of Parmigiano Reggiano requesting oil and vinegar on the side, not the fig vinaigrette that it came with ($19).

Being nostalgic for red sauce Italian, I ordered their homemade lasagna with meat sauce ($22) that I washed down with the Chianti Riserva DOCG Tenuta Il Palazzo $14.

We ordered mint tea ($3) and decaf cappuccino ($4.50) so we could continue to talk without feeling guilty about occupying the table.
