Lucky us, who live in Connecticut, to be able to sit and dine by the water. For one there’s Sage American Grill & Oyster Bar on the water in New Haven harbor.  It’s one of my favorite Sunday summer places to go as they have live Reggae music on the deck starting on Sunday, May 26, Memorial Day weekend, with the reggae band INITY from 3-6 pm and the following week will be JAH Movement. Those bands will alternate every other week, weather permitting, of course.

This time, though, I went with a friend for dinner, arriving early enough for the sun to still be reflecting off the water. We each sipped a split of Carpene Malvolti Prosecco di Conegliano ($9), while perusing the menu and nibbling the hot freshly baked multi-grain bread.

We both chose the salmon special ($22.95) that started with the retro iceberg lettuce —  a crisp fresh heart drizzled with house made ranch dressing.  Next was the fresh Atlantic salmon fillet with a choice of potatoes (one of us got fries, the other mashed sweets). I request that my salmon be grilled first, then orange glazed. It was perfectly cooked.

Attention all you bivalvue mollusk lovers: Sage is again doing an oyster tasting for the Festival of Arts & Ideas on Tuesday June 18th. Check their  site for additional information.
