While at our cousins’ reunion, those descendants of my father were invited to brunch at Rex and Rose Brunch Pop Up at my son Eric’s home.

We were asked to book a time slot.

Upon arrival, our order was taken, then we were given a number and escorted to our table. The neighborhood kids (ages 3 to 11) were trained to be runners. When our food was ready, one brought it to our table and returned the number to the reception desk.

The food was phenomenal and served with big smiles!

I sampled the breakfast burrito of scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon rolled with potatoes and guacamole inside a flour tortilla. I also had bites from others’ blueberry scones, pecan sticky buns and warm chocolate chip cookies all housemade that morning. Decadently delicious.

Some other relatives at my table had most of the other menu options. That included Leblang toast (over easy egg, bacon, avocado and tomato on a chevrè-schmeared slice of country bread); Cole’s tuna sandwich (tuna salad served with lettuce, tomato, avocado and B&B secret sauce) with chips; Quiche Eloise (flaky pie crust filled with egg custard with bacon, caramelized onions and Gruyère); the standard (eggs with country bread, bacon or sausage and avocado) and kid at heart (buttermilk pancakes with bacon).

A perfect brunch enjoyed surrounded by family!  Kudos to the chef and his team!
