My dining partner had walked past Ravagh Persian Grill on her way to meet me at The Morgan Library and thought it might be a place to get a bite after. It was. The Madison Avenue location is one of four, two in the city and two on the island.

I started with an Old Fashioned ($16), my dining partner their Sabzibhang ($16), a blend of blanco tequila, Aperol and red grapefruit juice that arrived looking more like a slushy than a cocktail.

Our server placed warm large Persian flatbread with two dips, one yogurt-based, the other an addictive blend of cilantro, parsley and olive oil. We ordered one of their eggplant dishes, the traditional Kashk-Bademjam of
eggplant cooked in tomato sauce, topped with yogurt and sautéed onion.

I was thrilled to see an option of dark meat for the saffron and lemon char-grilled chicken kebob, as I find that breast meat dries out. It was cooked to perfection and served with basmati rice and a grilled onion and tomato.

I highly suggest a visit to the Morgan Library. When you visit, be sure your phone is fully charged so you can listen to the highly informative audio that accompanies each room. Fascinating.  Friday’s are free from 5 to 7 pm, yet reservations are required.  Tickets are available one week in advance.

We focused on two exhibits. The actual library containing American financier Pierpont Morgan’s collection of rare books and manuscripts (the historic heart of the museum) and the Woody Guthrie: People Are the Song exhibition, which ended May 22.
