The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is widening the peanut butter recall linked to the salmonella outbreak after learning that Peanut Corp of America’s (PCA) Blakely, Georgia plant knowingly shipped peanut products that could have been tainted.

Because of that, the plant is now recalling every single peanut product made since January 2007. This now includes dry and roasted peanuts, and granulated peanuts used in chunky peanut butter. Recalled items include cookies, candies, granola and power bars, cereals, crackers, ice cream and dog biscuits.

The FDA said it still believes brand name jars of peanut butter in grocery stores are okay to eat.

This recall is among the largest to date — with the products linked to the salmonella outbreak having sickened over 500 people nationwide and implicated in eight deaths.
