On the corner of 56th and Madison you’ll find the sun-drenched Obika Mozzarella Bar across the street from one of my favorite freebies in Manhattan: Sony Wonder Technology Lab, a free technology and entertainment museum!

One really shouldn’t stop by a mozzarella bar without sampling its namesake. And so we started with marinated artichokes ($15) with our choice of bufala classica, bufala affumicata (smoked) or burrata. We ordered the generally cream-filled burrata and were told it wasn’t liquidy inside as they were required to keep it quite chilled. It was still wonderfully creamy and a perfect match for the marinated artichoke hearts.

We also tried the unimpressive undressed Insalate Pollo ($16), with still-stemmed large spinach leaves and overcooked free-range chicken, all topped with horseradish sprouts, radishes, sun-dried tomatoes and pomegranate arils.

I recommend skipping this salad, but ordering some namesake cheese and an accompanying glass of wine.
