After checking into our hotel, we headed with friends to Bevi’s for crawfish ($5.49 / pound, boiled). We quickly grabbed one of the outside picnic tables so we’d have a place to eat after we got our order.

To enjoy these spiny lobsters, just break off the tail, suck out the inners from the body then enjoy the tiny tail. Fun!

Coops offers Cajun grub and a snarky bartender who told us to call her Miss Laura. She also told us what to order! Their Bayou-blend seasoned fried chicken is not to be missed. It came accompanied by coleslaw and some rabbit and sausage jambalaya (2-piece $11.95).

If you’re uptown, don’t miss Dame (member of Les Dames d’Escoffier) Megan Foreman’s Gracious Bakery + Cafè. We enjoyed their tarragon chicken salad sandwich on housemade ciabatta topped with pickled red onions and a side of mesclun salad with balsamic dressing ($9.25).
