A chocolate aroma fills your nostrils as you walk through the door at Max Brenner Chocolate Bar & Restaurant, known for their confections  chocolates. But it wasn’t their chocolates I was there for — I was craving a juicy burger and fries, and heard theirs was worth the trip.

I wasn’t disappointed.

The Brenner burger is served on a wooden board  ($14.25) on a brioche bun with a dish of Max’s salsa and a cheese sauce, pickle spears and a glass filled with four, thick waffle fries dusted with chili and cocoa powder. That juicy  burger comes topped with cheddar and two perfectly cooked Vidalia onion rings.  A hearty portion indeed.

My dining partner selected their spicy chicken & 3-cheese flatbread pizza($13.95) topped with black beans, finely diced jalapeños, cilantro and three  (mozzarella, cheddar & goat) cheeses.

I was impressed not only with what we ate, but in their interesting food presentations — such as a simple tower of onions rings! I’d go back again anytime, and save room for a chocolate dessert. I do recommend.
