I know it’s a bit early to be talking stocking stuffers, but I may have discovered a perfect one for your favorite oenophile.

The publicist for Le Grand Verre offered to send samples for a virtual wine tasting of some of their premium French wines that we’d try during a wine tasting led by some of the French wine-makers. These wines, solely from boutique winemakers, are bottled in slim, single-serve recycled, double-coated PET packaging.

The collection represents France’s best styles, varieties and terroir from regions such as Bordeaux, Languedoc and Provence. In addition, the majority of the wines in the portfolio are helmed by women or crafted by female winemakers.

I’d buy most of the wines I sampled, especially the Banol Rose (a blend of 80% Mourvèdre, 10% Grenache, 10% Cinsault) from Château Val D’Arenc and the Haut-Medoc (a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot) from Chateau Peyredon 2019. The latter is a classic velvety Bordeaux with rich blackberry flavor and elegant tannins.

Both are offered online at ($29.99 / four-pack).

In fact, all the wines are purchased in sets of four 6.3-ounce single-serve portions ranging from $20-$30. The bottle’s design is a patented one, funded by the Burgundy Wine Region (BIVB), one that has won awards and accolades.
