A friend who lives across the street recommended Lantern for cheap — and tasty — big apple eats. We started with their appetizer tasting menu, — with a choice of  any three  ($13).  We samples IMG_7613 the Thai crepe (our favorite) filled with minced chicken, radish, and crushed peanuts wrapped in steamed rice paper; Crying Tiger  — sushi grilled medium-rare flank steak served on top of sticky rice with a chili citrus dipping sauce; and crispy calamari with mild spicy honey mint sauce.

Pad Thai (rice noodles, eggs, scallions, peanuts bean sprouts and scallion ($10) was predictable and good.  The spicy and plentiful Green Curry ($10) contained bamboo shoots, bell pepper, fresh basil and lots of eggplant. Portion sizes are large, with enough for leftovers.
