For folks with celiac disease: Bob’s Red Mill sells Gluten Free Steel Cut Oats and Gluten Free Rolled Oats. Oats don’t contain gluten, but commercial brands can be contaminated by contact with grains that do. Bob’s works only with pedigree-seed oat farmers and tests every harvest to ensure purity. Gluten Free Oats provide the same healthful fiber and iron as regular oats. The Rolled Oats come in a 32-ounce bag ($5.99); the Steel Cut Oats, in a 24-ounce bag ($4.99). Find them in stores or online at Bob’s Red Mill.
does Hannaford’s carry your gluten free oats??
Hope so
Linda,
I just contacted the PR person for Hannaford’s and requested that they find out for you. Stay tuned.
I just heard back from Hannaford’sCommunity Relations Specialist, she wrote:
We have many, many Bob’s Red Mill products available in our stores but we currently do not have the Gluten Free Oats. Our Natural and Organic Department Manager in Leominster, MA has celiacs disease and is working to get more and more gluten free products in her store and when this happens, we do have the ability to order these products into other stores. Customers simply need to speak with the store manager and let them know what product they would like to see on the shelf. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions. We get Bob’s Red Mill products from a distributor called United and if they carry this product we can work to get it into our stores. Let me know if I can follow up to help your reader any further.
Hannaford carries a wide variety of Bob’s Red Mill products in our stores but we currently do not have the Gluten Free Oats. One of our Natural and Organic Department Managers in Massachusetts has ciliacs disease and has worked very hard to get more and more gluten free products in her store and when this happens, we do have the ability to order these products into other stores. Customers simply need to speak with the store manager and let them know what product they would like to see on the shelf. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions. If our distributor has this product we can wotk to get it on our shelves.
I am the public relations manager for Bob’s Red Mill, and am checking to find out where the new Gluten Free Rolled Oats and Gluten Free Steel Cut Oats are carried in New England. They are very new products, but most Bob’s Red Mill distributors should carry them soon if they don’t already. In the meantime, you can purchase them any time from the Bob’s Red Mill website at http://www.bobsredmill.com. Enjoy!
I have a follow up for you — turns out our sales rep for the Northeast is expecting more stores to carry the gluten free oats after January or February. They are waiting for re-orders, most of which won’t happen until after the new year.
Do i have to buy the gluten free bobs red mill? I thought the regular organic bobs red mill oats was also gluten free also even though its not labelled as such.
Patty, I asked a representative from Bob’s Red Mill to respond and was told they’d post by the end of the week. Stay tuned!
Patty,
Bonnie asked me to respond to your inquiry regarding our conventionally labeled oats and their gluten free status. While some people with gluten sensitivies do consume our regularly processed oats with no adverse reactions, we do not endorse these oats as gluten free. Our gluten free oats are grown on dedicated farms, processed in a dedicated facility and tested for gluten in our dedicated lab. It really depends on your sensitivity level. Many foods are naturally gluten free, but oats do have a higher risk for cross contact with wheat because of conventional farming practices.
So the short answer is this- only our oats labeled as gluten free are truly gluten free. Please contact me directly if you need any further assistance.

Are these oats carried anywhere in Austin TX? (actually I live in Cedar Park near Austin). Thanks!
Pam,
I’m not sure where the oats would be carried in your area, but I would guess that Whole Foods will have them or perhaps HEB?
Best regards,
Bob’s Red Mill
It was wonderful to finally have some hot oatmeal in the wintertime again! I am going to have to order some more as I am not finding it in the nearby HEB. I really loved the taste and the texture–I felt like I had a nice, warm, filling breakfast to tide me through the cold morning. Thanks a million! (I don’t have true celiac disease but rather an autoimmune disorder [Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis]in which the presence of glutein or casein causes my immune system to attack my thyroid.)
I would like to order some more of those wonderful Gluten Free Oats–enough to last
me thru the winter. Can you send me a link?
Thanks!
Hi Pamela,
I’m so happy to hear that you are enjoying the gluten free oats. You can order more on our website at http://www.bobsredmill.com.
Best wishes,
Cassidy
I find that Bob’s Red Mill oats do not taste near as good as the other gf oats I’ve tasted. I wonder if it’s because they roast theirs? I love oatmeal and eat it everyday, but cannot tolerate the taste of Bob’s for some reason. I have to order from the internet from other companies instead of the convenience of buying Bob’s from my grocery store. You can get good oats for as low as $2 per pound.
I can’t find Bob’s Red Mill Oats in our Omaha stores. Whole Foods, HyVee, Bag ‘n’ Save, and No Name Nutrition don’t stock them at the present time. I miss them at breakfast time and when I make apple crisp and oatmeal cookies!!
Ruth, May I first suggest you speak to the grocery manager and request the store carry the products you’re looking for. If that doesn’t work you can purchase their products from Bob’s Red Mill website.
Hi, I’m so happy I found this site 🙂
Yesterday, I bought from Whole Foods in Toronto, Canada “Bob’s Red Mill Wheat Free Rolled Oats” cause I miss eating granola for breakfast.
Yes, they changed the label from “Gluten Free” to “Wheat Free” so now I’m concerned whether it’s safe for a gluten-free diet.
The label claims “dedicated oat-growing fields”, “tested to ensure the absence of wheat”, “advanced color-sorting” and “100% wheat free facility” which sounds great but they are no longer claiming the product is gluten free.
I don’t know what to do…
Missdelite: Canadian food labeling laws prohibit the use of the term “Gluten Free” in reference to oats. They are most assuredly gluten free. We do produce them in a gluten free facility and batch test them for gluten contact. If you have any further questions, please contact our customer service at customerservice@bobsredmill.com.

That’s explains a lot! Thank you Cassidy. I also live in Toronto, and wasn’t able to find “gluten-free” oats.
Where can I find these in Naperville, IL? Does Whole Foods carry it? I haven’t seen it but really need them!
@Mary Frances: Whole Foods should have them. You can also try looking at our store finder at http://www.bobsredmill.com to find stores in your area. We have no way of knowing which stores carry which products, so I recommend giving them a call before driving all over to find them. Best of luck!

Has anyone been able to find organic gluten-free oats? I have not been able to find such a product, but would like to order some via the internet. Thanks, John
I too have been searching everywhere online for organic gluten-free oats. In the near future, I hope Bob’s Red Mill offer these to us!
