After perusing their menu online — one that’s chockful of interesting vegetable combinations — we were looking forward to dining at Market Table in the Village. We arrived during their scheduled lunch hours and — after ordering our cocktails — learned that the lunch menu wasn’t available, we could only order their bite-size apps from their Happy Hour menu.

Since we were already comfy in their outdoor three-sided structure that had heaters both next to us and under the table and we had our drinks, we decided to stay and order their antojitos (literally “little cravings”) or bite-size appetizers at $1 each.

I started with their Eagle Eye cocktail, a bird’s eye chili-infused bourbon, lime, ginger and smoked serrano salt ($16). Tasty yet it had more of a margie, not bourbon flavor. Next, I sampled their margies that were way too sweet for me (two for $12 during happy hour) with little (if any ) tequila.

Our favorite antojitos included the crunchy chili-braised chicken flauta in a lime crema, the fried corn fritters with chipotle aioli and the mini spiced beef tamale pie with pickled onion. The twice-cooked Yukon gold potatoes topped with melted queso Oaxaca cheese were fine, just not something I’d order again.

Skip the grilled & marinated shrimp tostado as the avocado in the mix had turned brown and bitter from exposure to the air (as you can see from the photo). The added salsa de arbol didn’t help it enough.

We added the pork taco in a house-made corn tortilla  ($8 each)

Market Table adds a 5% COVID-19 recovery charge;  at least they tell you about that, unlike some other restaurants.
