Curious Chef collection

When I picture the youth of tomorrow, the image that pops in my mind is that of a 5-year old with a blue-tooth headset, an IPhone on their lap and an Xbox controller in their hands. Granted I don’t have a posse of 5-year olds that I can refer to as friends, but I can only imagine they’re as technologically saavy as I am — the question is, can they also hold their own in the kitchen?

I’m sure most parents would love the idea of handing their child a cooking knife and recipe, sitting on the couch with their feet-up and a glass of wine, and saying “When’s dinner?” The reality is, most parents order-in…(I’ll wait for all the comments on that statement). Truth be told, cooking is an art, and most parents might overlook the fact that “cooking projects are a great way to feed children’s curiosity and their natural desire to explore the world—hands-on!”

I was a toddler when I started to cook; needless to say I had a great teacher. When I think back to those days, I have a fond memory of most of the utensils and equipment I was able to use (of course many of the “costlier” pieces were off limits). There were a random assortment of wooden utensils, dented metal measuring cups and spoons and a collection of colorful mixing bowls — and I would pump-out batches of cookies, brownies and muffins, mostly while standing on a stepping stool and supervised.
