I had forgotten what a treat dining at Claudette was. That’s what happens when I try to only eat at restaurants I haven’t written about. I started with their tasty Tamarind Manhattan  ($15) with rye, tamarind and orange bitters, garnished with a candied orange twist.

We got there as the restaurant opened for dinner and requested our meal be served in courses. They happily obliged.

We began with their charred romanesco ($15) tossed with whipped labneh, pickled raisins, toasted almonds and vadouvan (a French derivative of a masala seasoning); their sweet potato falafel ($14 for two patties) accompanied by harissa and pickled chilies; and their shaved fall veggie salad ($15) with brussels sprouts, turnips, scallions, and gruyère in a minted champagne vinaigrette topped with black sesame seeds. I recommend all three.

Next, we shared the pan-roasted Atlantic salmon ($29) over a bed of beet hummus and chickpea salad, seasoned with horseradish and dill. With that, we tried their roasted Brussels sprouts ($8) with bacon in champagne vinegar.

For dessert, we shared their rich chocolate pot de crème ($10) topped with roasted almonds, and the unusual fromage banc custard ($10) that tasted similar to a cheesecake filling. It came topped with lemon curd, diced peaches and housemade granola.

I highly recommend a trip to Claudette – it has good food, attentive service with cloth-covered tables socially distanced apart. Worth the trip.
