Stopped by the neighborhood diner, Cafe Luca for brunch after seeing my friend’s new spectacular home.
What was I thinking?
Here I was at at an adorable classic diner on the corner of 71st and first, and I ordered huevos rancheros! What was served by a very friendly waiter, wasn’t a tortilla spread with seasoned beans, topped with eggs, guac, fresh pico de gallo and cheese. Instead, it was gringo fried eggs sitting next to a pile of guacamole and chopped tomatoes in a stab at a fresh salsa. The flour tortillas were served on the side.
My friend’s Greek omelet with diced feta, tomato and spinach, was delicious. I’ll remember to order that next time.
Both brunch specials ($18.95) come with a cocktail, fresh fruit salad and coffee. A NY bargain for sure!
