Celia’s Garden Cafe is a 20-minute drive west from San Luis Obispo in Los Osos, where we headed to brunch one Sunday. It’s a quaint cafe serving breakfast & lunch.

Dining outside is an all-season happening when on California’s Central Coast. When you go, request the back terrace as the front area is noisy from the passing cars. My family often visited, knowing what they wanted to order and where to sit.

Celia herself greeted us. She was handling tables that busy weekend. I sampled their Bloody Mary ($9) made with wine vodka (as they have no liquor license). A nice spicy drink. Unfortunately, the wine vodka didn’t sit too well with me.

When asked about their crab cake Benedict, Celia said she makes them daily with fresh crab and, by the way, she added, “We’re out of hollandaise.” I ordered the crab cakes on a toasted English muffin topped with poached eggs, anyway, as I usually ask for the sauce on the side. I had that with a side of fresh tomatoes ($19.95). I’d recommend.

One dining partner had their Greek omelet as a Los Osos Scramble. That’s two eggs scrambled with sautéed spinach, tomato, black olives and feta cheese plus home fries and toast ($15.95). The other enjoyed the Denver omelet with bell pepper and grilled onions with cheddar cheese ($15.95) with a side of sliced tomatoes.

I recommend a visit to Celia’s that is if you’re in the area.
