I stopped at Brasserie Rhulman cross from Rockefeller center recently with a friend as we were looking for an outdoor place to grab a light bite after shopping midtown. At this restaurant named for Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann — the French furniture designer — you can watch the world go by from the patio. Chef Laurent Tourondel  of the BTL restaurants, now oversees the kitchen.

We each sipped a glass of Austrian Gruner Veltliner Kogl ($12) as we shared the curried shrimp and lobster roll on a brioche roll. It came with crispy hand-cut shoe string fries and a curry, tarragon and kaffir lime leaf mayo ($28). Pricey as you’d expect for its location.

Great for people watching!
