If you find yourself in Winter Park, Florida, do not miss a stop at Bosphorous, a Turkish restaurant serving Anatolian cuisine located near the train station and a 5-minute walk from the scenic boat tour we were planning to take on Winter Park’s chain of Lakes.

Our waitress Joy explained every part of the menu with a big smile on her face. Drinks first. On an Old Fashion kick, we tried theirs made with hand-selected Knob Creek Single Barrel Bourbon, muddled orange, cherry juice and house-made Turkish fig bitters ($13). Delicious. In addition, we ordered a Sevilen ($46) Turkish Sauvignon Blanc to accompany our meal.

We started with their over a foot round hollow of their signature lavas bread, made to order ($4.95) with two ($10.95) of their mezze spreads. The muhammara, a puree of red peppers, walnuts, garlic, olive oil & pomegranate molasses and the babaganoush, fresh smoked eggplant purée with tahini & yogurt. I’d recommend either. Also don’t miss the sigara böregi, crispy filo dough stuffed with creamy feta cheese and parsley($ 9.95).

I also recommend their tender cubes of lamb sis kebabs, first marinated then chargrilled to perfection ($29.95). It came served with rice pilaf, pickled red cabbage, beets, carrots and red onions sprinkled with parsley and topped with a Turkish vinaigrette. We also added a refreshing side of cucumber yogurt ($2) as an accompaniment.

Not to be missed if in the area!
