The “Thrillist Presents Bacon & The Blues,” hosted by Tyler Florence this past Thursday evening in the High Line Room at The Standard, a trendy new hotel (848 Washington Street at West 13th Street) was one of the opening night’s events at the now underway New York Food Network Wine & Food Festival. This is the second year of the festival founded by Lee Brian Schrager.

The menu: pork and bacon-inspired snacks served with Canadian Club cocktails; The music: blues. The party: hot and trendy.

My favorites included chef Christopher Lee’s (Aureole) Bacon and Black Truffle Potato Gratin with Teleggio Cheese (pictured to the right) and chef Brian Murphy’s (The Mott) braised bacon slab- using nueske bacon braised with chicken broth over some greens and garnished with fried oysters.

Other Melanie Young, Pat Cobe, Bonnie Tandy Leblangsamplings included chef Jeremy Strubel’s (The Libertine) Hazelnut Crusted Smoked Pork Belly, chef Brian Bistrong’s (Braeburn) bacon wrapped quail dog with smoked mustard sauce and — my least favorite as the meat was so tender but its flavor was sadly and surprisingly bland  —  chef Jaqueline Lombard’s (Gansevoort 69)  48-hour BBQ Berkshire Duroc Pork Butt Sliders, served with candied bacon and homemade pickles.

What I purposely missed trying, but heard good things about was B.R. Guest Executive Pastry Chef Elizabeth Katz’s (675 Bar) chocolate covered bacon and bacon sprinkled donuts.

I didn’t indulge as I was heading from this event to the Chelsea Market After Dark event.

And one more photo of Tyler and friends with me peeping through the group (see the green arrow!)

Stay tuned for those details.
