Owner Alon Moskovitch greets you with a big smile as you arrive at Mezetto, his Mediterranean restaurant on East Houston Street on the Lower East Side and loves to interact with you to be sure you’re visit to his restaurant is perfection.
We started with Mezetto’s trio of dips served with za’atar flatbread ($21). That included a smoky sweet eggplant with Greek yogurt and silan (date honey), a spicy feta with harissa, sumac & roasted red pepper and their hummus seasoned with cumin and z’atar. I recommend.
Although we were offered more flatbread to accompany our dips, we passed as we wanted to save room for another dish. We shared a hearty lam
b burger ($19) topped with goat cheese, roasted red peppers and harissa garlic mayo served with their za’atar fries
Alon convinced us to sample his halava parfait ($12), his specialty dessert. It’ basically crystallized sesame seeds — with an ice cream consistency — topped with shredded halava topped with caramel-pistachios sauce.
I’m planning to return for their brunch (served daily), especially for the bottomless mimosas for $16.
