The entrance to Creatures Rooftop inside the Hotel Almeda High Line is far west on 27th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenue. We were invited to sample their Happy Hour fare.
The first thing I noticed as we exited the elevator was the spectacular views, including the Empire State Building to the East, the Hudson River to the West, and the Edge, the Hudson Yards observation deck. (The perspective is off in this panorama!)
Next, their hospitable team, including our attentive hostess, Jemis, took care of us. They’re well-trained in service, meeting our needs and those of other guests. I always admire that.
I started with my summer drink, a spritz. This time, an Aperol one. (Been loving the Lemoncello ones, when they’re not too sweet; and my newest love, the Bergamont one, introduced at Prosciutto di Carpegna event in the rain, outside Eataly.)
We then ordered their mezze ($15 for three items during happy hour), tasting their tzatziki, falafel, hummus with tahini and schug*, whipped ricotta drizzled with honey and marinated lemony olives, served with warm pita bread, rainbow carrots and cucumber spears.
*Schug is a spicy Middle Eastern condiment made from chilies, herbs, garlic, spices and olive oil.
We also sampled their charcoal-flavored peri-peri chicken skewers from their dinner menu. It came with herb salad and tahini. I’d recommend.
I also highly recommend the happy hour at Creatures Rooftop.
***Happy Hour details as of 06.28.2025
Hours: 4 to 7 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, on the rooftop.
What’s happy? $12 well cocktails, $8 house wine, $6 beer of the day. Plus $6 each or 3 for $15. Mezze: hummus, tzatziki, whipped feta, falafel, whipped ricotta, and marinated olives.
How happy? *** (three out of three stars)
