Looking for a lite bite while we yakked, I met a friend at the Forcella on Park Avenue in NoMad to catch up.
We started with their refreshing salad of a sliced pear atop a salad of arugula and radicchio in light lemon dressing with some gorgonzola cheese and walnuts ($13).
We followed that with one of the brick-oven traditional Naples-style pizzas they are known for, specifically the signature Decumani “truffle” one. The pizza had a nice chewy crust and was topped with a bit too much cheese and fresh arugula. I liked that. But… someone in he kitchen had way too heavy a hand on the added truffle oil. Made me wonder if in fact it was true truffle oil.
My friend always orders dessert; I take only a bite. From the waiter’s suggestion, we ordered the Millefoglie ($9) described on the menu only as the “secret of the chef.” The house-made dessert consisted of layers of pastry with fresh strawberries and pastry cream all drizzled with Nutella.
If I went again, I’d try a different pizza.
