When heading out of my usual stomping ground, I love it when the subway is conveniently located on the same block as the restaurant, as it was for the grand opening preview of the Dim Sum Palace on Jackson Avenue in Long Island City. There, we sampled their celebrated dim sum and Cantonese specialties.

Dim Sum Palace is a family-run restaurant group founded in 2016, known for its authentic Cantonese cuisine and dim sum. The Long Island City location is their tenth in the city, the first one in Queens. Their menu features a wide array of dim sum that we sampled, along with some other classic dishes.

Some of the things we tried included an appetizer of cold sesame noodles ($9.95), half of a Peking duck, and many dim sum including the shrimp dumplings ($7.95 /4), shrimp rolls ($7/3), Buddha’s delight ($7.25 /3) and crispy garlic sparerigs ($9).

Two of the best things we ate were the snow peas with garlic ($21.95) and the Sui Mai with shrimp and pork ($7.25/4).

As a treat for dessert, they sent out coconut jellies ($6.25)  and coconut honey cakes ($6.75)

If you’re in the mood for Dim Sum, I recommend one of the many Dim Sum Palace locations around the city.
