Why would I return so quickly to Serendipity?

Not because of its fabulous food but because my other grandkids, these two from out west, were visiting New York City this time, and I had promised them a Serendipity sundae.

We arrived after a long day at the American Museum of Natural History, starting with the show at the Planetarium, and it left us very hungry as our reservation was midafternoon.

I ordered the fried mozzarella sticks ($17.95) for my growing ravenous grandson, who also ordered the footlong classic served with French fries, coleslaw and pickles ($18.95). He took half home, leaving room for his Drug Store ($22.95) sundae with three scoops of ice cream and one topping; he added gummy bears.

My granddaughter almost finished the children’s grilled cheese and fries ($12.95). She then indulged in the Cotton by Candy ($22.45) cotton candy burrito sundae with pink & blue cotton candy, three scoops of ice cream, two toppings, whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, sliced almonds & a cherry on top served with a side of cinnamon-sugared tortilla chips!

Also at our table was a burger with onion rings, a substitute for the fries ($29.90), and the ultimate BLT on brioche toast with turkey added ($29.95)

The adult sundae selections at our table included the aptly named Coward’s Portion of their outrageous banana split ($22.95) with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice creams, bananas, peanuts, walnut topping, hot fudge, caramel, whipped cream and cherry & chocolate shavings! And the Forbidden Broadway ($27.95) sundae with chocolate blackout cake, hot fudge and whipped cream with his ice cream.

I recommend a visit, especially with your grandchildren!
