I’m always on the lookout for deals with good food and decent service. During my research, I discovered a $21.99-weekend brunch deal including a cocktail in the theatre district, on the street where we were seeing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s fabulous Sunset Boulevard featuring Tony Award winner Nicole Scherzinger, plus Tom Francis, who, during the performance, walked through the streets belted out “Sunset Boulevard, ruthless boulevard…”

Mama Mia is diagonally across from Marsailles, where I’ve dined numerous times. Marseille is always packed and noisy, not so Mama Mia. It’s easy to have a conversation. We had the brunch special, which came with mini blueberry and corn muffins, as well as coffee and cocktails. I chose the Bloody Mary from their five options.

My dining partner chose the pasta option, selecting the rigatoni with the vegetarian vodka pink sauce. I ordered their organic goat cheese salad with mushrooms and roasted peppers in a balsamic vinaigrette and opted to add chicken, which, according to the menu, is an additional $3.   Oddly, when they brought the bill, they charged $5 for it and argued about it.

I’d recommend it as a place to have a conversation before the theater with decent food. If you go, be sure to check the prices charged.
