Little Park, in Tribeca, is the fabulous newest addition to the NoHo Hospitality Group from chef/owner Andrew Carmellini. This restaurant — like so many other of his — features seasonal ingredients from his partnerships with local farmers, anglers, vintners, ranchers and foragers. Don’t miss this one.

I found the unusual menu perfect for sharing with a vegetarian friend. While sipping our medium-bodied Grüner Veltliner, 2013 Forstreiter ‘Kogl’ Kremstal, Austria ($40), we asked for the spent grain bread and cultured butter served only on request. Their salted and peppered butter was addictingly good on their chewy-crusted dense bread.

Little Park’s food is so simple, yet bursting with flavor. Do not miss the crispy Brussels sprouts ($15), with smoked thinly sliced parsnips and currents in an apple cider reduction and a buttery parsnip cream. These salty-sweet sprouts could almost be a meal in themselves.

Never having had — nor thought about — a beet sandwich, we opted for that option served on dark rye bread with a small perfectly seasoned salty salad. The chef here seems to love salt!  The earthy sandwich had thickly sliced roasted beets, sliced and salted avocado and a creaminess from the shaved smoked egg ($17) .

I highly recommend a visit to Little Park. It’s really so good that I’ll be heading back to sample more.
