Bonnie: I begin my day by freshly grinding coffee beans, then brewing a pot full. I find that aroma intoxicating as I sit at my computer beginning to respond to emails while waiting for the coffee to brew. That good cup of coffee makes my morning at the computer so much more enjoyable.

Earlier this year I received an email from Amy Bonetti, sharing information about Weaver’s handcrafted artisan coffee and John Weaver, master roaster and president of the company. I found her info interesting, but told her the proof was in the brew.

After receiving the samples, I brewed a pot of Weaver’s Organic Blend — a coffee that’s 100% organic and fair-trade certified and is a blend of beans grown at high altitude along the equator (Central and South America, Indonesia, and Africa).

I expected a good cup of coffee. What I got was fabulous — full-bodied and rich with a slight caramel flavor and a complex aroma — a cup to satisfy even the most finicky coffee aficionado. And that includes me!

Bryan: Though I sort of hate to admit it, coffee is becoming a bigger and bigger part of my life. Don’t get me wrong. I’ve never had anything against the ubiquitous beverage; it’s just that I never wanted to like it too much. There are coffee lovers and there are coffee needers. Thankfully, I still believe I fall into the first category, but I’ve always wanted to make sure to avoid becoming a member of that elite second group… “I need coffee!” — It’s almost like heroin addiction.

I must say that there are few things, after a long, enjoyable dining experience, as satisfying as a hot cup of freshly brewed, quality coffee. My very first tastes of the charismatic, addictive beverage were always following a meal. I had stayed above the caffeine fray, only delving into coffee’s clutches on the rare occasions of a dinner out, a late night piece of cake at an all-night lounge.

Then, morning working hours began. This came later in life than you might expect. It wasn’t until my late 20s that I had to be up and alert in the morning, as my till-then restaurant life was always geared towards the night. Coffee, ahh… now I get it. I was tired; now I’m not. I needed two more hours of sleep; now I can’t stop typing so fast. Give it to me and being awake isn’t as bad.

So, now I drink coffee in the morning. We have a drip coffee machine in our office, but never anything tasty that I’d really want to enjoy. I’ve been more known to stop in at Dunkin’ Donuts for a quick cup on the way to work (it’s literally right next to my building). I’ll try to keep some dignity and let you know that my coffee of choice at home is always from the French press, freshly ground beans. There absolutely is nothing like it. If not for my home setup, I would not have had the wonderful pleasure of trying Weaver’s Organic Blend coffee. The vacuum-closed, resealable package almost emanated the aroma I was imagining inside. True sensory overload as I ground the beans, awaiting my boiling water. I was already smiling.

I thought to share the joy by bringing my bag of fresh Weaver’s Coffee beans into my office. I’ve said before, I know a product is good when it disappears quickly from the commissary fridge, but I know a coffee is really good when my accountant is nothing but smiles at 9 am!

Weaver’s has been making handcrafted coffee since 1980. I’m not a coffee expert — would never claim to be — but I do know a good cup of joe and a bad cup of joe. This is an amazingly flavorful, deeply rich and expressive, roasted coffee bean. Worth a try, morning or night.

Weaver’s Coffee is also available in flavors including: The Blend, House Blend, French Roast, Africa Blend, Espresso Blend, Decaf House Blend, Kenya AA, Guatemala Antigua, Costa Rica Tarrazu, and Hawaiian Kona Reserve

Eric: The past two years of my life have been a little chaotic; I’ve moved three times, have been involved with four different jobs (and one potential career), bought a dog and, most importantly, realized that a morning routine is the mother-of-all necessities. This includes a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee. Although my day begins with an early morning walk with my dog, my brain doesn’t start until the coffee hits my lips.

Over the last year, I’ve depended on a variety of coffee shops, as well as the drip pot at work, to fill this need, but recently I invested in a new grinder and French press, especially to take advantage of the freshly roasted beans I could find in the area (I’m a dark roast fan).

I was excited to receive the samples of Weaver’s, as we rarely review any coffee products. Aside from the selling points of being organic and fair-trade, the coffee has a rich, full-bodied taste with an amazing aroma that provides one heck of a start to the morning.
