Instead of starting the summer traditionally, with a cruise around Manhattan, we did so at the end on a perfect summer Tuesday when Circle Line offers a special $20 ride for Tri-State Residents instead of the regular $51.

After the perfect cruise, we headed down Twelfth Avenue to the recently opened, nautically inspired, Yacht Club on the 10th-floor rooftop at 26th Street. The must-go restaurant is from Crew, an innovative hospitality group led by internationally acclaimed chef Kerry Heffernan, which operates experience-focused restaurants and maritime ventures, including Grand Banks, Drift In, and Island Oyster. It’s open for lunch, drinks and dinner from 11 am to 11 pm daily.

We sat on the sun-drenched Lido Deck enjoying the over-the-top hospitality until the sunset, and we sat under the stars. We started with bubbly ($15 Paul Louis,  Blanc de Blancs Brut – Val de Loire) while sitting in our cabana, before moving to the dining area.

There we started with their crusty baguette and French butter three ways: beurre de Paris, umami butter and sea salt, along with baby radishes ($13)

We then dug into their seafood, sharing both the Lido deck’s Maine lobster roll in an herb-dulse emulsion, pickled cucumber, and griddled potato bun ($40), and the dining room’s amazing champagne-butter poached lobster on golden brioche ($55), filled with “meat” from a 1.5-pound lobster.

We also enjoyed their seared Montauk golden tilefish with summer corn and poached fennel ($38), as well as accompaniments of their crispy French fries with sage aioli and spiced ketchup, and Vidalia onion rings with their special sauce ($13).<

We finished the night with an espresso plus a rhubarb compote crumble with ice cream ($12) and a heavenly chocolate macchiato cloud ($15).
