I tripped over the Infatuation’s—”The NYC Smashburger Power Rankings“—on the day I ate what I thought was one of the most delicious smashburgers since I first tried one at my friend, Tanya’s, Gotham Burger Social Club, which won the number two spot on that list.
I almost didn’t write about it, as I had the burger at The National Arts Club, a private club. I’ve held off writing about New York’s private clubs because they’re not accessible to most people. But many do offer reciprocity privileges, opening their doors to members of other clubs, so I decided it was worth sharing.
But the club one—The “Big NAC” Smashburger (short rib & brisket blend with American cheese, housemade pickles and secret sauce on a potato bun ($21) with fries—is so delicious, I had to photograph it and say, it rivals Gotham Burger Social Club, where you can try this textural wonderland of a meal – to borrow The Infatuations’ wording.
The Gotham Smash is a nostalgic smash burger with grilled onions, melted American cheese, housemade pickles, jalapenos, club sauce, ketchup and mustard on a potato bun (Single $9; Double $12.50, Triple $15).
If you haven’t tried one, I highly suggest you do so.
