The rain didn’t dampen our spirits as a large group of us headed to the Bronx Botanical Gardens to see their orchid show. We started our visit with lunch at the always good Hudson Garden Grill, spreading out across three tables.
I ordered the Hudson Garden Burger, which the waiter offered with either salad or fries, but he neglected to mention the $4 extra for fries. The short rib brisket patty came topped with white Cheddar, tomato, romaine, and roasted garlic aioli on a brioche bun ($26, plus $4 for the fries).
Another had the tri-colored cauliflower crudo ($23) with dates, cashews, spring greens, and sunflower butter in a lemon vinaigrette with fresh mint as a surprise in each bite!

One person at my table enjoyed their housemade Clover Farm ricotta with honey, herb oil, lemon zest, edible flowers, along with everything bagel crisps ($16) and another the flavorful green curry mussels ($28) with Thai basil, coconut milk and a lime garnished with marigold flowers and served with grilled sourdough bread.

And then off we went to see The Orchid Show: Mr. Flower Fantastic’s Concrete Jungle, “where orchids collide with concrete in a dazzling reimagining of the Big Apple, from stoops and slice shops to the subway itself.” The show runs through April 26, 2026.

I highly recommend both the show and the grill!
