We decided to meet our friend from Sarasota, who was in the city to see her grandkids, for lunch at Robert restaurant in the MAD museum. We sat by the window overlooking Columbus Circle, enjoying the views.

I ordered their special three-course $65 prix fixe meal, starting with their butternut squash soup attractively presented with maple creme fraiche drizzled over and pepitas for crunch, plus their salmon with a sweet-spicy ginger sauce with jasmine rice and bok choy and shared my dessert of Oreo raspberry cheesecake with a mint coulis and orange foam.  Other than the salmon being slightly overcooked, everything was good, attractively presented and served professionally.

One friend started with their nicely dressed garden market greens ($16) with black mission figs, poached pear, manchego and marcona almonds in a champagne vinaigrette, and the mini lobster roll ($23), piled high, appetizer portion of the lobster with chips and greens; the other had the soup for her app and salad as her main. We added their hand-cut fries for the table ($12)!

When dessert arrived, we received not only my cheesecake, but also mini treats and special lemon sorbet for our friend who can’t eat dairy!

I highly recommend Robert and plan to return while at their upcoming May jewelry show.
