We kicked off our Greet outside the Whitney Museum and then strolled to the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway to start my visit. A “greet” is when a Big Apple Greeter (that’s me!) proudly takes visitors around the city as if they were longtime friends, sharing stories, local tips and the true joys of living in New York City.

This time,  I welcomed a mom and one of her sons from the Midwest. We saw the beach, wandered the hills of Little Island, strolled through Pier 57 and ended at OfCorsica, the newest addition to their food offerings, which opened last fall.

After walking the High Line to Hudson Yards, we finally stopped in at José Andrés’ Little Spain for a few tapas for lunch, starting with liquid olives that literally melt in your mouth, ElBulli’s famous molecular gastronomy dish! ($6 for 2).

Next, we dove into some classics: Pan con Tomate ($12)—toasted bread brushed with tomato and EVOO; Patatas Bravas ($14)—deep-fried potatoes with salsa brava and alioli; and Gambas al Ajillo ($19)—red shrimp confit with EVOO, heaps of garlic and a splash of oloroso wine (perfect for bread-dipping!). I also tried something new (and will absolutely order again): the Flauta de Pincho Moruno ($17), an Andalusian chicken skewer sandwich with spicy mayo and mint. Pro tip: remove the skewer before you take a bite!

Another delicious meal at Mercado Little Spain—highly recommend!
