As this published, we learned that Reyna has permanently closed.

We stopped into Reyna, which took over the old Le Midi Bistro spot, for happy hour before heading to the Vineyard Theatre to see ||: Girls :||: Chance :||: Music :||. The show, which varies each night, centers on a pivotal summer at a prestigious girls’ music program in Berkeley, where four gifted teenagers come together. As their relationships intensify, a sense of looming catastrophe beyond the campus walls forces them to adapt both onstage and off.

Reyna, a woman-owned Mediterranean spot from Nicki Laborie, offers a golden hour (two hours, actually) from 4 to 6, Tuesday through Sunday. We tried their $10 spritzes—one Aperol, one Hugo (with elderflower liqueur)—and ordered one of each offering.

The Manchego croquettes ($10 for three), our favorite, are gooey cheese in a cauliflower dough, served with Spanish aioli. The fried falafel bites ($10 for three), topped with pickled onion and tzatziki, weren’t as much of a hit. The fries ($5) are fantastic, dusted with sea salt and served with ketchup; we requested more of the spicy aioli for dipping.

Still hungry and in need of fresh veggies, we shared their green chickpea hummus served with crudites and housemade flatbread ($20).

I also learned about Le Louis, the speakeasy tucked beneath the restaurant that serves classic cocktails and bites. Clearly, we’ll have to come back for that.
