There’s something undeniably warm about walking into Esh, Fairfield’s vibrant new nod to modern Mediterranean. Maybe it’s the open wood-burning oven flickering in the corner, or the low hum of conversation drifting over candlelit tables. Or maybe it’s just that, from the moment you arrive, you feel welcomed—not as a customer, but as a guest.
The Mezze Quintet ($35) was a standout starter, with smooth, flavorful dips and extra flatbread ($9) that arrived warm and puffed from the oven—worth the extra order. We sampled all five dips that included hummus, tzatziki, spicy feta, baba ghanoush and labneh.
Next were the golden and bright Crispy Artichokes ($18), balanced by capers and remoulade, while the Grilled Squid à la Plancha ($24) was tender, with a perfect sear.
The Baby Gem Salad ($20) was fresh and layered, with fennel, mint and pistachios that added depth. Our Shishito Peppers ($15), came tossed with shifka—a light green, tart and fruity pepper—and garlic salt. Smoky and addictive. The Whole Roasted Cauliflower ($18) was charred, caramelized and dramatic, thanks to feta za’atar gratin and tomato.

The meal ended with the Butterflied Branzino ($48), grilled over charcoal and finished with garlic confit and salsa verde—simple, but memorable— a fish you dream of long after the table’s been cleared.
Esh delivers on both flavor and atmosphere, offering a thoughtful, well-executed menu in a warm, welcoming setting. It’s a strong addition to Fairfield’s dining scene—and one worth returning to. I highly recommend.
