My friend and I returned to Cafe Luxembourg to use the gift certificate she had received, following the poor service and food we experienced during our last visit. Although we wondered whether the meal and service would be better, we were excited to spend time together, as she now lives in Sarasota.

While we were perusing the menu, sitting at one of the outside tables, a bartender stopped by the table and asked my friend whether he might put her Poland Spring water on ice so it would be chilled when we left.  Now, that’s service.

Next, we met Peyton, who was quite friendly and attentive. Neither she nor he knew about our past bad experience. We made our order easy on Peyton. We both had the Niçoise salad ($25) with 6 ounces of roasted salmon (+$21), cooked medium, and the dressing was served on the side. The delicious salad was a blend of mixed greens, roasted peppers, boiled and sliced potatoes, hard-cooked eggs, and Niçoise olives, accompanied by a roasted shallot-sherry vinaigrette on the side.

When we requested some bread, one server graciously brought it with a smile.

I sipped a Domaine Sautereau 2023 Sancerre ($21) with that as we discussed how this time our meal was the antithesis of our last one, which is why now I highly recommend a visit.
