OK, OK, so these are the Top Ten Pizza Parlors for 2010, but it’s only the first month of 2011, so what criterion would we base that list on? C’mon, 2010 plaudits are still valid.

WorstPizza.com seriously examined over 500 pizza restaurants across the county, all in the hopes of finding the best pizza. The list is not a new concept, it’s compiled each year by the self-proclaimed “Pizza Expert” and his team of professional pizza reviewers. Contrary to the name Worst Pizza, the website critiques, entertains and reviews pizza and the restaurants that sell it. This year’s list ranges from little-known pizzeria’s in Mount Vernon, NY, to Brooklyn and Long Island and finally to the kings of pizza in New Haven, CT (That’s right!! New Haven!). The top 10 list changes each year based upon the preparation and ingredients used by all the pizza makers reviewed.

The Top 10 List of Pizza Restaurants in the US:White Clam Pizza
Pizzeria Bianco, Phoenix, AZ
Johnny’s Pizza,  Mount Vernon, NY
Sally’s Apizza, New Haven, CT
Tacconelli’s Pizza, Philadelphia, PA
Great Lake Pizza, Chicago, IL
Lucali’s Pizza, Brooklyn, NY
L&B Spumoni Gardens, Brooklyn, NY
Buddy’s Pizza, Detroit, MI
Frank Pepe’s Pizza, New Haven, CT
Tucci’s Pizza, Boca Raton, FL

So, I’m not going to lie… I’ll accept that only two New Haven restaurants are in the Top 10, but I’m not ecstatic about it. So, because I cannot finish this piece without some quick shout-outs. The left off the Top 10, but deserve their own Top 7 Other Best Pizza Places, all in the New Haven area of course.

Di Matteo’s Pizza, Wall St. Pizza, Paul & Eddies, Yorkside Pizza, Bar, Modern Apizza, Sorrento’s Pizzeria

Oh yes… and how could I possibly forget my favorite pizza place in my new home (Atlanta), Antico Pizza! This is the best pizza of the South by far!
