Hotel pool-side dining has come along way – at least the Hilton Bonnet Creek where I stayed in Orlando while at the Pillsbury Bake-Off earlier this year. IMG_6631

While enjoying the warmth of the sun, my friend and I watched a waitress bring a tall, thin, covered clear plastic container tableside to another table, vigorously shake it and pour the contents into the bowls she had set out. I had to check it out.IMG_6629The shake-and-pour is the way the Beech Restaurant serves its chopped salad. After seeing it, I ordered it too, although the delicious salad was more shaken than chopped.  Meaning, it contained large – not diced – pieces of lettuce, chicken, tomatoes, radishes and cucumber, plus fresh corn and edamame all in a dressing that didn’t overpower the veggies freshness – and served by our smiling, incredibly helpful waitress Denise. The salad was the freshest I’d had in a long time..obviously since I had just flown in the the north!
